Who runs it
uglyHD is operated by Brick30 Technologies LLC, a single-member LLC, and published under Ugly Pumpkins LLC, its parent brand. The product catalogue, price history and calculators are proprietary work of the business.
What it covers
The index ranks enterprise SAS and SATA hard drives, NVMe U.2 and SATA solid-state drives, NAS-rated drives and registered ECC server memory. Each priced row reduces the current offer to total item cost plus shipping per terabyte, so different capacities and conditions can be compared directly.
The used market is part of the index, not an afterthought. In particular, eBay carries used pulls and recertified enterprise stock that Amazon-only comparisons miss. Those listings can be the lowest real acquisition cost, provided the model, condition and price pass the same checks as every other source.
Why it exists
This is a working buying tool, not a content farm. Specifications stay in a hand-maintained catalogue; prices are observations from current listings. The separation means a source outage can make a product temporarily unpriced without erasing the product or turning an old offer into a current quote.
The exact arithmetic and screening rules are published in the methodology. Every indexed merchant and its current monetisation status appears on the source list.
